To use the Large White Sage Smudge Stick: Get a ceramic heat proof bowl. You can either burn on the stick or cut some into the bowl and burn in that. I find that cutting off into the bowl will make your sage stick last a lot longer and is easier to control.
You don’t want the sage actively burning, it only needs to be smoking. Use a feather or your hand or whatever you have handy to keep the smoke going.
Always start in the same place in each room. Work your way anticlockwise around the room to dispel the negative energy, or clockwise to attract the positive.
Have a window in the room open so all that nasty energy has somewhere to go.
